Hamadryas Baboon (Papio hamadryas), portrait with long head and shoulder mane. It is a baboon from the Old World monkey family. Habitat: Africa and Arabian Peninsula. Apart from the striking size difference between the sexes which is common to all baboons, this species also shows sexual dimorphism in coloration. Males are silver-white colored and have a pronounced cape which they develop around the age of ten, while the females are capeless and brown. The snout is hairless. Maennchen und Weibchen unterscheiden sich in der Fellfaerbung erheblich. Die Weibchen haben ein graubraunes kurzes Fell, das Fell erwachsener Maennchen ist silbergrau gefaerbt. Die graue Kopf- und Schultermaehne der Maennchen, die sie wie ein Mantel umgibt, war namensgebend für diese Primatenart. Die Schnauze ist unbehaart.
