$Rainbow butterfly (Urania ripheus). wingspan about 8-10 cm. The rainbow butterfly from Madagascar is probably the most colorful among the butterflies. His wings gleaming in all color shades, the physical color spectrum has to offer. This does not happen due to pigmentation, but because of the particular surface structure of his wings, through which the light is refracted in different ways. Seine Fluegel glaenzen in saemtlichen Toenen, die das physikalische Farbspektrum zu bieten hat. Dies geschieht nicht auf Grund einer Pigmentierung, sondern wegen der besonderen Oberflaechenstruktur seiner Fluegel, durch die das Licht auf unterschiedlichste Weise gebrochen wird. $Mandrill (Mandrillus sphinx) the Mandrill is a primate of the family of old world monkeys ; habitat are the rain forests of central Africa. His snout-vent length can be up to about 80 cm. Mandrill-males are the colourfully Mammals. Their strangest facial colouration has signaling functions. The stronger the color, the older and more dominant the animal. The red color of the nose is attributed to strong supplied with blood of the dermal tissue. Right and left of the nose are blue glowing sulci. The almost artificially acting blue caused by refraction of light, based on the structure of the collagen in the skin. Below the face is a yellow beard. In castrated animals, the colors dull. Seine Kopfrumpflaenge kann bis zu ca. 80 cm betragen. Mandrill-Maennchen sind die farbenpraechtigsten Saeugetiere. Ihre auffaellige Gesichtsfaerbung hat Signalfunktion. Je ausgepraegter die Farben, desto aelter und dominanter das Tier. Die Rotfaerbung der Nase ist auf stark durchblutetes Hautgewebe zurueckzufuehren. Rechts und links der Nase befinden sich blau leuchtende Furchen. Das fast kuenstlich wirkende Blau wird durch Lichtbrechung verursacht, die auf der Struktur des Kollagens in der Haut beruht. Unter dem Gesicht befindet sich ein gelber Bart. Bei kastrierten Tiere verblassen die Farben. Fotografiert im Tierpark Hellabrunn, Muenchen.$
